So here’s the thing about night shifts. When you get a night off, what ends up happening is you sitting alone at home on your couch watching episode after episode of Modern Family until 4am. I meant to watch True Detective, but that requires a lot of concentration, and my jet-lagged brain isn’t up for that right now. (more…)
I had a major revelation a few days ago. Like, this stuff should be sewn on pillows, painted on posters, written in cards. I figured out what true love is.
Whaaaaaat. That sounds so deep. It’s not deep, I promise. There’s all these poems that try to say what love is, lots of songs, probs some drawings or collages or whatever. On the Bachelorette (yes, actually), they say things like, “Love is like these clouds and this is the greatest day of my life.” Or “Love is like this race car and I’m on a rollercoaster of emotions (?)” “Love is like this rug, soft and multicolored and kind of stripe-y.”
Stuff like that. (more…)
Apologies that we’ve fallen into a habit of only posting once every seven days over here.
I had planned on getting this recipe up for you on Friday. And then on Saturday. Obviously, I didn’t succeed.
Wanna know why?
I’m currently suffering from a severe case of The Tomorrows.
Today is my 25th birthday. It feels very weird to actually be 25.
Like, when I was younger, I had a lot of ideas about what it meant to be a 25-year-old. Things that all people accomplish by the time they’re 25. More specifically, all the things I would have accomplished by the time I was 25. And approximately two of them have happened. Give or take.
So here’s my actual first quarter-century by the numbers.
Life has been weird lately.
You see, it all started when I ran out of my perfume. It was a limited edition scent. so there was no way I could buy the same stuff and keep wearing it. I’ve worn that scent for the past six years. To give you some context: Ever since The Accountant has known me, I’ve smelled like that. Like seriously, he didn’t know I wore perfume for the first few years we dated. He just thought that was how I smelled.
Needless to say, I’m having a bit of an identity crisis now.
This week is my Spring Break.
Here are things about this week that are not very Spring Break-like for me:
- I have to wake up at 830am every day.
- I have to work on editing journal articles from 9am-5pm every day.
- This takes place in a library. INSIDE.
- Even if I didn’t have to be inside all day, it is RAINING this week.
- I think I’m getting sick.
Not just in the winter. Like always.
I’m not trolling for sympathy. This is my affliction and I’ve come to peace with it. Maybe. I guess. Whatever.
My fair-skinned life is never more apparent than when I go on a beach vacation. So last week in Costa Rica, I was very aware of my porcelain complexion.
