It’s winter in Dallas finally. We had some sleet and frozen rain fall from the sky and schools closed for 2 days. I went to work on the second of the 2 “snow days,” and there was so little traffic that I wish EVERY day was a fake snow day for the rest of the city. (more…)
Drum roll please!
I started my life as a Real Adult last week.
(I don’t know who let me slip through the cracks like that… but it happened. And now I’m a Real Adult. WHAT?!)
So, I’m on my OB/Gyn rotation right now. On the OB part with the babies. And the thing is that OB’s work a lot. Like…a lot.
The main problem with this is not the loss of sleeping hours, although that is sort of a sad thing. The main problem is that when you get up really early and your day is really long, you’ve created these extra meal times. (more…)
So, funny story: I might be typing this on an iPad. That’s probably something I never envisioned doing. Oh, the turns life takes. My laptop’s wireless card decided to stop working and I didn’t want to keep y’all without a post for any more days. Thus, I post from my iPad.
There are a few reasons why I find my iPad-posting bizarre.
Some might also say it’s bizarre that I made my dad a pink cake for Father’s Day. Whatever. I don’t like to do what’s expected (that’s maybe a big fat lie).
Okay, so these are a little late for Cinco de Mayo celebrations. I(Kate) totally get that.
But here’s the thing: it’s been kinda a rough week. I hit my face on a door Wednesday in the middle of the night. No. Seriously. Cheekbone+ Doorjamb =my face. Oh, life. Then, I took a final on Thursday. I have a 20+ page paper due today (it’s written already, don’t worry). To top it all off, I have another final on Wednesday. Timing isn’t really what I’m focused on. Plus, do you really need a holiday as an excuse to make margs into cupcakes? (Answer: No.)
Also, I experienced some serious trauma on Cinco de Mayo. So I was a little distracted.
What was that, you ask? Oh. You know. Just a (mouse)RAT in my apartment. (!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!)
Every time I go to the grocery store, I buy a pound of butter and a box of Kashi Go Lean Crunch (Honey Almond Flax edition).
Sometimes, I overestimate my ability to move through the perishables I buy. Like, last time I went to the store, I also bought 18 pounds of grapefruit. I didn’t mean to… I just picked up a big bag of grapefruit because they were the right size and way cheaper than the ones they were selling individually. I made it through about 13 pounds before they started going bad.
I eat queso for dinner sometimes. Just queso. And tortilla chips, of course.
Just a smattering of facts. Comin’ atcha from your favorite law student.
Today is a very special day!
Not only is it St. Patrick’s Day, but also (and more importantly) it is my nephew Casper’s birthday! He is three!
So cupcakes are for birthdays. But these cupcakes are not for three-year-old birthdays. They are more for St. Patrick’s Day.
