It’s winter in Dallas finally. We had some sleet and frozen rain fall from the sky and schools closed for 2 days. I went to work on the second of the 2 “snow days,” and there was so little traffic that I wish EVERY day was a fake snow day for the rest of the city. (more…)
I’ve realized important two things.
First, I don’t eat enough bagels. From a health standpoint, I’m sure I eat enough bagels. There’s probably not a daily recommended allowance of bagels, although there should be, and it should be 5. When I got home from the hospital Sunday morning, I stood in front of my fridge for far too long, trying to figure out why I didn’t want to eat anything that was inside (aside from the fact that there’s basically just eggs and string cheese in there). So, I’m on my OB/Gyn rotation right now. On the OB part with the babies. And the thing is that OB’s work a lot. Like…a lot.
The main problem with this is not the loss of sleeping hours, although that is sort of a sad thing. The main problem is that when you get up really early and your day is really long, you’ve created these extra meal times. (more…)
1. No one has sent me my business cards with “Hannah Lust, 1/2M.D.” yet. I thought they were supposed to come in the mail? Is there someone I can speak to about this?
2. Last night the Weatherman (yes, I’m outing him) and I watched the Bachelorette premier(e?) with some friends. I know people watch this as a real thing, but…I just…I can’t be serious about it. The awkwardness was hurting my teeth. One guy was wearing a suit of armor. Also, that girl gets to drive a Bentley! This is not real life. Obvs, because it’s TV. I maaaaaay have to watch next week. Recently I learned 2 important things about myself.
1) I will put on pink lipstick before any task I think may be stressful or that may make me feel like I’m not in control. Like while I’m waiting for my ride to the airport, which happened to be quite late, and it happened to end up not mattering at all. (Is mattering even a word? I don’t think this thing has very good spell check.) Or like when I hear that our flight to Denver is going to be delayed due to blizzard conditions.
Nothing I can do about it, so I might as well put on some lipstick. (more…)
Is there a class I can take about weddings? Specifically, a class or a book that will tell me all of the very basic questions that people expect me to the know the answers to, even though the wedding is 2 AND A HALF YEARS AWAY?
I went with my mom to look at a possible place to get married. (I believe that’s called a venue? Seriously. Need help.) This outing wasn’t as embarrassing as a few weeks ago when I met this lady who likes to plan weddings on the side. At that little meeting, I informed her that I thought we would probably have 4 ushers “on each side.” (more…)
A major life event happened! And I’m not talking about the fact that I recently dyed my own sofa slipcover, although that is fairrrrrrly major. For my life.
No. A REAL life event. My little brother went to college! I say little, but, let’s face it. I’ve been the shortest person in my family for an embarrassingly long time. Dumb. (more…)
